A country town on the banks of Mary River, Maryborough has a rich history going back to 1847. Farming, logging and sugarcane cultivation helped the town to develop. It became an immigration center and started to grow rapidly.
Its history is still visible especially in architecture. Mighty Mary River was a prime manner for transport, now the depth for boats to enter is minimal except when flooding occurs.
However, then the currents are strong and it is hard to navigate. So it is road transport for Maryborough these days.
Maryborough is a fun place to visit.
