BURNETT HEADS
QUEENSLAND
The river entry to Bundaberg started as a Pilot Station at South Head of Burnett River. The lighthouse was built in 1873 and a seven mile sail to Bundaberg was established.
Now Burnett Heads is a costal town independent of Bundaberg. The quiet, relaxed atmosphere is its beauty, most of the time that is. The Lighthouse pub gets loud on the week ends.
The Burnett River looks calm but can get flooded and its current can get fast. There is a ferry to Lady Musgrave Island departing from Port Marina. Burnett Heads is a gateway to Coral Coast.
A walk along the river offers pleasant natural scenery, kangaroos, birds and flora.
Burnett Heads is a cool place for boating.
